Architecture Of Damascus

Damascus is the oldest inhabitant capital in the world.

Today it's the capitale of the Syrian Arab Republic With a poupulation of 2,392,000.

The city is filled with islamic architecture as it was the capital of the ummayyad empire

and due to its important location.  

The modern city is a complete contrast as well.

It is one of the most modern and advanced cities in the Middle East. The streets utilize a standard

western grid and the buildings are mostly modern,

but plain and simple when compared to other contemporary cities.

As we can see the city combine both old lagre

 buildings that symbolize it and modern blocks and

desgins that makes it One Of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East.

Although in the last few years good architecture was just an extra luxury because of what the country have been through, Today Syrian architects and students are working hard to give the city the best look it deserves and make it a symbol of sophistication and moderness.
